Nintendo Turns a Page to Offer eBooks on 3DS

The Japanese business publication Nikkei has reported that Nintendo is in preparations for the launch of an eBook service this fall, presented on their 3DS handheld console.

Initially, this service will be limited to Japan and offer around 300 titles, the majority of which will be children’s books. Although there’s currently no indication as to whether Nintendo has plans to bring this to the West, they did release a bundle of 100 classic books on the DS back in 2008.

It will be interesting to see if this is indeed a service that Nintendo will make strides in—does anyone really want to ditch their Kindle or tablet to read on their handheld console screen?

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
