New Details Arrive for Kirby: Triple Deluxe

While Kirby: Triple Deluxe is launching in Japan on January 11th, all we know about its release in other spheres is the loose date of “2014.” However, today’s Nintendo Direct broadcast did showcase a decent amount of footage for the new title, as well as tell us a bit about some of the mini-games.

Satoru Iwata himself showed off footage of the game, and emphasized how Kirby can jump back and forth into the background and foreground—an intriguing feature that will certainly play well on the 3DS screen.

There will be 20 different copy abilities in this title, including four new ones: Hypernova (for dramatic damage!) and the Bells (to stun enemies) are the two that were clearly showcased. We also got to see Kirby Fighters (4-player brawl), and Dedede’s Drum Dash (rhythm-based game) as a few of the mini games.

Keep an eye on this site and Nintendo’s YouTube page for official footage of the game—undoubtedly it won’t be long before we see an official trailer—but in the meantime, we’ll have to wait patiently for a release date on this side of the world.
