Over the years—and several times in the past 6 months, in fact—localisation of a game title from Japan to North America has resulted in some changes… strange ones, it may seem, but mostly the type of changes that take into account our delicate constitution.
Are you laughing yet?
Chibi-Robo! Photo Finger is the most recent of these edited games, and is now available on the 3DS in North America. It’s a charming little title that uses the handheld’s camera for a scavenger hunt. Chibi-Robo is one of those characters that appeals to everyone, though he’s not entirely well known—he had one GameCube release and two on the DS, though one of those never made it to North America.
Naturally, the poor children of North America need to be protected from things like bare bottoms, and the most recent game censorship in the process of localisation is the removal of a virtual butt from the back of a talking can!
YouTuber WiiFolderJosh caught this change and filmed the differences for us. What a relief to know the children of North America won’t be subjected to such horrors, hmm?
(Because, you know, we never have butt jokes in our games & cartoons over here…)
