Rovio knows what you need, More Angry Birds!

If you thought that Angry Birds wasn’t available in enough places, you aren’t alone.  Speaking to EuroGamer, Rovio’s VP of franchise development Ville Heijari was insistent that they aren’t ruling anything out, despite having made disparaging remarks about console gaming in the past.

“We really haven’t looked into the Wii U specifically yet – we haven’t announced anything for Nintendo consoles yet. But if you look at the control methods, if you look at the Wii U, I mean that’s a really, really natural match, so obviously we’re very interested in developing there as well.”

“[The 3DS is] a really really interesting platform,” he added. “Many people doomed it outright as it being somehow gimmicky, but obviously the same thing as with the Wii U: if you look at the 3DS, Angry Birds games would make a perfect match there.”

But, it wasn’t just Nintendo hardware he was talking about.

“We’re looking at all the consoles,” he stated. “We haven’t announced any particular titles for any console, but we are looking at every console at the moment.”

Rovio is clearly very concerned that there might be somebody, somewhere who owns a piece of hardware on which they are unable to play Angry Birds.  Clearly they’re doing this in the interest of world peace, if every toaster and AK47 in the world could play Angry Birds, there would be an end to fighting, an everlasting peace for the world.  Except for the inevitable escalation of the bird-pig conflict of course, that could get messy.

Expanding to new platforms like the Wii U and 3DS would never be negative for Rovio’s Angry Birds. Even if those platforms were created to run video games with high definition graphics with an extremely rich and sometimes difficult gameplay, there’s always room for extremely simple games that you can play for a couple of minutes, wherever you don’t feel like playing for extensive amounts of times. Angry Birds is on the way to become a classic for sure.
