If you’re one of the many fans who loved playing Shantae: Risky’s Revenge on DSiWare, you’re probably thrilled to know that it was actually a sequel to the game Shantae, originally on Game Boy Color. Shantae was developed by WayForward Technologies and published by Capcom, and now that the 3DS Virtual Console is hip and happening, it’s likely only a matter of time before the original game hits the shop.
Currently, WayForward is working on getting an ESRB rating for the game for North America, and they also own the full rights to the game. Once the rating is given, we’ll hold our breath to see if and when Nintendo approves and schedules the game… but based on the process that’s been started, it’ll likely happen eventually.
You might also be interested to know that the Capcom logo and references will be removed once the game is rereleased… since Capcom no longer holds any rights to the title.
