With only a month left on the clock before Pokemon Black & White 2 hits the shelves, Nintendo is putting Poke-pride into high gear through a Wi-Fi distribution event designed to encourage players to get in on the game in the first week of launch.
Early players in the U.S. will have the opportunity to connect their copy of the game online between October 7th and November 12th, in order to collect a new Mythical Pokemon creature called Genesect. This Pokemon uses a special move called Techno Blast, which no other Pokemon uses, and apparently Genesect also has the ability to adjust its power levels (ie. scale up or down) based on the enemy it’s battling.
This is Nintendo’s first Pokemon Wi-Fi distribution event, and marks yet another step in Nintendo’s attempt to increasingly make use of the DS’s download / online capabilities.
Both Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 are playable in 2D on 3DS and 3DS XL systems (and also in 3D, of course), and according to a press release from Nintendo, there have been changes to many key areas in these games so that players continue to be challenged as they move forward.
No word yet on if the Genesect will be offered elsewhere, but we’ll keep our ears open!
