Rex Rocket Kickstarter Surges Onward

Yes, it’s yet another game with a Kickstarter for funding… but the difference in the campaign for Rex Rocket is that the game looks like it might be one worth watching (and funding, if you have a few extra pennies).

Rex Rocket is a 2D platformer that’s only looking for $6k in order to fulfill development, and as of today, it’s been pledged over $2,500… and there are 27 days to go! According to NintendoLife,  who spoke with developer Rob Maher, the game will be made for Wii U and 3DS if enough funds are raised.

The projected launch date for the game, when it’s all said and done, is January 2014. Take a read of the game on the Rex Rocket Kickstarter Campaign page, and if you’re interested… well, you know what to do!

“Inspired by the retro glory days of 8-bit games, Rex Rocket is a traditional 2D platformer brought into the 21st century. Paying tribute to classic NES games like Mario, Mega Man, and Metroid, old-school gamers will find Rex Rocket a breath of fresh air, stirring warm and fuzzy feelings of nostalgia. Rob and Tyler, two passionate indie game devs, have a mission to keep the world of retro games alive. Rex Rocket features one-of-a-kind handmade pixel art, over 100 handcrafted levels connected in an expansive starship filled with a wide variety of puzzles, enemies, hazards and bosses. To top it off, we have an an original, kick-ass chiptunes soundtrack by Saskrotch. Creating this universe and the memorable characters in this game has been a true labor of love.”

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
