During the most recent Nintendo Direct broadcast, we learned that Nintendo has signed an exclusivity deal with SEGA. The deal concerns the publication of several Sonic games, but the broadcast revealed little else—and now, Nintendo Germany has let the hedgehog out of the bag, so to speak.
A press release from Nintendo Germany, translated by a forum member on Sonic Stadium, contained this information:
“Today, they (SEGA) revealed further details of the second of three titles, which the two companies will release exclusively on Wii U and 3DS. All three games will be released this year.”
Three titles?! Well, I’ll be. We already know that Sonic Lost World and Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games is headed our way, but a third game? Speculation on the interwebs is that it might be a Sonic-themed Mario Kart title, based on what’s thought to have been hints from Sumo Digital Executive Producer Steve Lycett.
