You may have heard that Activision has been working on a new game in its Transformers series, and there was some vague information around that the game would be making its way to the Wii U and 3DS.
According to Game Informer, the Wii U version of Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark will be developed by Edge of Reality, and the 3DS “tactical RPG” version will be developed by WayForward Technologies.
The games will continue along the same timeline as the previous Transformers games—Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron—though it’s likely that the studio who produced these two titles (High Moon Studios) isn’t working on this third one due to the studio’s recent layoffs.
Naturally, Activision isn’t going to let a tie-in opportunity slide, so they’ll be doing what they can to tie together the new game and Michael Bay’s upcoming Transformers: Age of Extinction. The game will attempt to bring together the worlds found in the game series and the film, and players will be able to play through the game as characters they see in the film.
