Nintendo 3DS System Update Adds More Parental Control

Ahh, stability. The buzzword we never tire of hearing (*cough*) in regards to updates for Nintendo products. The process seems endless, and the updates are not optional… and now, the most recent system update, titled 7-2-0-17, has been released for our stabilizing delight.

Here’s what you’ll get:

Version 7.2.0-17 available via wireless Internet connection includes the following improvements:

Added new Parental Control features:

  • Parents can now register an e-mail address within Parental Controls
  • Parents that have registered an e-mail can send themselves instructions on unlocking Parental Controls if they have forgotten their Parental Controls PIN

Improved system stability and usability:

  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

If you want to update before the prompt, head to “System Settings” à “Other Settings” à and keep on going through until you get to “System Update.”

We’re presuming this will be a prompted update, but if not, you can choose whether or not to add this extra parental control. We suspect parents will be on board with this, since there are simply far too many PINs to remember these days.

Beyond that, the updates are as mysterious as always. If we notice anything different, we’ll let you know… and vice-versa, m’kay?

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
