Super Mario Maker Gets Barbara the Bat Costume

Continuing with the trend of “costumes just so bizarre that we have to report on them,” the newest arrival to Super Mario Maker is a mascot who was featured in a launch title for the Nintendo DS in 2003 back in Japan. It was called Jam with the Band, and was a rhythm game that received two sequels, with the only localized game being the first one brought to Europe.

Hence, it’s a rather obscure game and character, but as these things often do, it gathered a following of its own. Not one to disappoint, Nintendo has added this mascot character, Barbara the Bat, to Super Mario Maker as the newest costume item.

The only reason why others might recognize her is that she made a cameo appearance as an assist character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl way back in the day. Ringing any bells? Check out her costume trailer below to see this one in action.

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
