Nintendo is doing their best to stay on top of current youth trends and reach into the marketplace wherever they can—a while ago there was a Splatoon page launched, and last December, there was an official Pokémon tumblr account set up. This seems to have led in turn to the launch of an official Nintendo tumblr.
There’s not much there yet—an intro message, some The Legend of Zelda GIFS, and a post about Super Mario Bros.—but the most interesting thing is a disclaimer on the home page of the tumblr account:
“Welcome to the official Nintendo Tumblr! ESRB Rating: Rating Pending to Mature. May contain content inappropriate for children. Visit www.esrb.org for rating information.”
Ah, haha. So, it may be policy to include this standard warning, but we really don’t imagine Nintendo reblogging slash headcanon of…whatever strange pairings fandom has thought up.
We’re just saying.
On the other hand, good on Nintendo for reaching out to its player base through a modern medium. It’s certainly encouraging to see them being willing to try new things and engage with players where they are.
