While the days of a slew of Nintendo-delivered panels do appear to be behind us, the fact is that there are always some panels each day that may be of greater interest and relevance to Nintendo fans. We’ve gone through the program and highlighted several panels for each day that we think might be of specific interest to our readers, based on things like content, panelists, or theme.
Remember that our suggestions for these panels are of course subjective and based on our own perceptions, and we do encourage you to check out the schedule yourself to see if there are other things that interest you—but maybe we’ll mention something that you hadn’t noticed yourself and which otherwise might have missed.
Either way, remember that panels do fill up quickly and it’s wise to keep track of the PAX Lines Twitter account for real-time updates on panels, lines, and other important information.
- 10am-11:30am – The 3rd Annual PAX Rumble! N64 Wrestling, 30 Challengers, and YOU! (Hydra Theatre)
Against the better judgment of all involved, we’re back for the 3rd Annual PAX Rumble! Except this is really our 3rd Rumble in 2 years, but we’re just so dang excited! 30 incredibly talented members of the gaming community will crowd around a Nintendo 64-era wrestling game and yell at each other for your amusement. Previous PAX wrestling panels have seen a man in American flag pants power bombed through a table, bottles broken over the head of a doctor wearing a velvet tracksuit, and a Diet Coke can who died and was resurrected by magic. What barely containable chaos will unfold this time around? How much longer will Penny Arcade permit this nonsense? The next step is involving actual professional wrestlers, right? Life is strange.
- 10:30am-11:30am – Inside the Smash Brothers Industry (Wyvern Theatre)
The largest grassroots gaming industry on the planet, the Smash Brothers community has exploded since 2013’s release of “The Smash Brothers” documentary. In 2014, the Smash scene held over 1,500 live events, reaching over 100,000 active players, with the biggest streams breaking viewership records. How does the community work? What goes into events? How can you join the strongest community in gaming? Learn how to get involved from the biggest personalities, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.
- 9pm-10pm – The Runaway Guys: Thrown Controllers (Hydra Theatre)
Let’s Players Chuggaaconroy, NintendoCapriSun and Proton Jon (The Runaway Guys) invite you to try your luck at “Thrown Controllers”, a panel similar to the show Nick Arcade where lucky members of the audience go head to head and answer various video game trivia questions, play various video game challenges and even go head to head against the three of us. Do you have what it takes to be the best?
