Recently in the Q&A of the latest Investors Briefing, the Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima addressed a lot of different points, including the renewed focused on the 3DS and Nintendo’s profitability.
The most interesting point relates to the NX, regarding it’s march launch. He was questioned about the importance of a holiday launch (since both the Gamecube and 3Ds had a holiday launch), and specifically if Nintendo has changed their thinking about the importance of a holiday season launch.
His response was that Nintendo still valued a holiday launch, but it was only one factor, and other things need to be taken into consideration, such as having launch titles ready for customers to buy and pay. He went on to say a proper launch is the most important factor when considering when to release new hardware.
