Assassin’s Creed: Lost Legacy, an accurate title

Revealed at E3 2010 alongside the 3DS was a title that, as a big Assassin’s Creed fan, I was very interested in.  It seemed to me that a big 3D Assassin’s Creed adventure would be a great reason to buy a 3DS.  The massive beautiful environments seemed like they would really lend themselves to enhancements of a dimensional nature.  However, since then we haven’t really seen much of anything about it, which seems odd when you’re talking about one of Ubisoft’s biggest franchises.  Speaking to Joystiq, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations lead writer Darby McDevitt explains exactly what happened to it.

“You may have heard of the game ‘Lost Legacy’ for the 3DS. It was announced, but that kind of morphed into this idea,  Driven by curiosity and a desire to understand the origins of his Order, Ezio Auditore travels East in search of the lost castle at Masyaf, the ancient seat of the Assassins.”

So, the legacy is lost.  An AC title hasn’t been ruled out on the 3DS, but it looks like the original Lost Legacy project took an odd jump from 3DS to Xbox/PS3/PC.  Hopefully no more of the announced titles for the 3DS do that, or an already thin software line up could get very bare indeed.
