In an interview with NintendoGal, Amber McCollom, the Director of Entertainment and Trend Marketing (Pretty fancy title, if you ask me) has all but confirmed that we will be seeing GameCube games coming to the Wii U in some downloadable form. Speaking about Nintendo’s tendency to be backwards compatible one generation, she said this:
Actually the GameCube discs will not be compatible with Wii U, but a number of the games that were playable on GameCube can be downloaded from WiiWare.
But sorry kids, no wavebirds for Smash Brothers.
