In our continuing look at what developers think of the Wii U, we bring you the CEO of Codemasters, the guys behind the DiRT and F1 racing series. If these guys know one thing, it’s how to make racing games. They have confirmed that F1 is joining DiRT on the Wii U, so what does Rod Cousens think of the Wii U?
Wii U needs to be very keenly priced – and in the same way that Sony is having to price Vita when the competition is smartphones and tablets. Pricing is critical in a very fragmented hardware space. So I am not sure they are going to be able to come out and hit a premium price point from the outset.
But Nintendo is smart. It is always innovative. It has demonstrated its breakthrough ability in the past, so let’s see if it can do it again. And the industry should cheer it on.
He was speaking partially to the worries that Nintendo is having about the launch price of the Wii U. Are we as consumers going to hang around and wait several months in the assumption that slow sales will mean a massive price drop like the 3DS? I personally don’t see that happening with the majority of consumers, but us early adopters are a fickle and very vocal bunch. Great to hear Codemasters are fully behind the Wii U. Any idea’s on how the Wii Pad could integrate into a steering wheel peripheral?
