Nintendo Snaps Up URLs for Wii U

If you were looking for any indication that Nintendo is working hard on their new console, Nintendo of America has purchased five new URLs that coincide with the big reveals they made in the pre-E3 Nintendo Direct broadcast. It’s typical for purchases like this to happen after big announcements, so it’s a good sign that things are on the move for the Wii U.

We’ve heard that the system has a social interaction setup, which will be covered through miiverse.com and miiverse.net. The Japanese URL for this will be miiwarawara.com. And of course, following up the announcement of the controller’s new name, we have wiigamepad.com and wiiuprocontroller.com.

Whether Nintendo intends to develop all these sites is one thing, but at the very least it keeps outsiders from snapping up the URLs and taking advantage of consumers.
