That… remains to be seen.
Just when the gaming world was celebrating what they thought was an elimination of friend codes for the Wii U, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime has reported to Kotaku that the Wii U will have friend codes after all.
But but but… they’ll be different.
It sounds like you’ll be able to interact with users in the Miiverse area without actually entering in specific friend codes, but when you do add friend codes, you’ll have more options within the area.
That’s all well and good, but what does that actually mean? Fils-Aime has said that “you will be able to identify people as friends and have a certain level of interaction vs. a different level of interaction for the more general population. The method by which you identify someone as a friend is a lot simpler than what’s happening today with Friend Codes.”
Okay… so… we still have no idea what that means.
Fingers crossed they’ll get the details sorted out soon.
