Wii U Will Be a “Great Value”

While many newly released systems result in the company taking a loss, Nintendo is hoping to avoid that with the launch of Wii U.

Many will recall the mistakes made with the 3DS launch, namely the high price point and the lack of a “killer” app feature, as well as a lack of content. Thankfully Nintendo is well aware of the issues and is striving to ensure the Wii U doesn’t suffer similarly.

And while details are scarce right now, the man in charge of Nintendo UK, David Yarnton, told MCV that:

“One of the problems with 3DS was content. When we launched we didn’t have the content we do now, or the functionality for download games either… with the Wii U, we had 23 games on show at E3, plus Netflix and Amazon… it’s a great value proposition.”

He also noted that they “have a cost we have to hit to get our money back,” so doubtless in the near future we’ll learn exactly what that means for Nintendo and exactly what we’ll see in the box on launch day.

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
