Mega Man’s Uncertain 25th Birthday

Yes, it’s happening—it’s almost Mega Man’s 25th birthday, and Capcom has certainly planned to give our blue hero a celebration in style. However, that celebration may not be everything fans have hoped for (and certainly nothing compared to what we saw for Kirby recently).

Capcom’s Christian Svensson had a few things to say about the upcoming birthday:

“In December, ‘some but not all’ plans for the coming year of celebrations will be shared. There are many moving parts and not everything will be done and final come December. No one has promised a game or even an announcement of one at that time. Please do keep expectations in check.”

The announcement might not come as a surprise to Mega Man fans, who see Capcom as having turned its back on the iconic character recently (if you recall the cancellation of Mega Man Legends 3, among other things).

What the announcement means exactly remains to be seen—sounds like the celebrations could be super awesome… or lonely and dull. Either way, we hope there’s cake.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
