In a series of interesting announcements over the past 24 hours, Ubisoft has revealed that its incredibly popular Assassin’s Creed series will be getting a new game sometime in the next year—which isn’t unexpected—but the game will also have a new hero. Sorry, Connor. It’s not you, it’s… well, actually, it is.
The “new game” announcement is standard fare for the series, making the new one game five in five years, however this upcoming instalment won’t be part of the same treatment we saw happen for Assassin’s Creed II. After that one, had Brotherhood and Revelations before the third game’s release, but AC III will receive no such treatment. Instead, we move on with a new character and a new setting.
Which platforms the game is coming to, we have no idea as of yet, but since AC III was available on all platforms, it’s not a stretch to expect the new game on the Wii U. Rumors are that it’ll be available before March 2014, but greater expectations are for the holiday season at the end of this year.
Meanwhile, AC III fans have a DLC pack to look forward to, called The Tyranny of King Washington. It’ll hit the Xbox 360 and PS3 by February 20th, with Wii U fans having to wait… awhile. No release date for that yet.
