This past week was a bit rough for Nintendo and its fans. With announcements from Ubisoft and Team Ninja coming down the line that their games (Rayman Legends and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, respectively) would no longer be Wii U exclusives, it was made all the more difficult when Rayman Legends was delayed until September 2013. That was a tough blow, considering the game was thought to be a leading contender to increase console sales on release.
But, even after a week of discouragement, there was a shining moment. One particular developer has stepped forward to confirm that two of its games will continue to be Wii U exclusives. Hideki Kamiya of Platinum Games let us all know that his company is dedicated to their promise for both Bayonetta 2 and The Wonderful 101.
His Tweet, translated by NeoGAF, said this:
“We’re a development company… Nintendo gives us money, we make Bayonetta 2 and W101, and they sell it… So if Nintendo says ‘We’re putting Bayonetta 2 on PS360’ it’ll come out on those platforms… So ask Nintendo about it…”
In other words, Nintendo is in control of these particular games, from this particular developer, and will remain on the Wii U indefinitely. Unless Nintendo has a bizarre muscle spasm and starts pushing games onto other systems.
