If you missed out on the Capcom panel at PAX East—or the whole event—never fear! We’ve got a quick update for you on the news that came out of the panel this past weekend at the Boston event.
During its “World of Capcom” panel, Capcom made a number of announcements for games coming to the eShop this summer—DuckTales: Remastered and Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara—which received a lot of excitement from the crowd (and there were DuckTales-themed references throughout the convention for the rest of the weekend—seems folks are rather excited about that one).
But of course, Mega Man was mentioned, despite the lack of a new game announcement.
In the coming months, as part of the ongoing 25th anniversary celebration for the Blue Bomber, Capcom plans to make a limited edition Mega Man figurine available at San Diego Comic-Con, and another new figurine that shows Mega Man and Mega Man X together will be available in the Capcom store.
Currently, there are Mega Man USB sticks in the US Capcom store, which have apparently been selling rather swiftly—likely prompting these additional merchandise announcements.
The panel also announced that a number of Japanese art books, including Mega Man R20+, will be localized—we’ll see these in the second half of 2013. And if that wasn’t enough, there’s a planned crossover with Archie’s Sonic the Hedgehog comic series, which will start with Mega Man #24 next month. Oh, and you’ll be able to download digital soundtracks. Seriously!
Capcom also gave some concrete release dates for the upcoming 3DS Virtual Console releases of Mega Man 4 & 5. We’ll see Mega Man 4 on April 25th, and Mega Man 5 on May 16th. The plan is to then get Mega Man 6 out in June.
Overall, the panel certainly revealed a lot of exciting news for Capcom and Mega Man fans, but there are still hints that more Blue Bomber goodness will be revealed later this year, so stay tuned!
