While this week’s Nintendo Direct was mostly focused on upcoming 3DS titles, the Wii U did get its moment in the spotlight. One of the big announcements was an important one for the struggling console—Pikmin 3 confirmed to be available in North America on August 4th.
Pikmin 3 is a highly anticipated, high-profile title that Nintendo may be counting on to boost console sales, and it’s notable that the game arrives only six weeks before the release of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD—another very highly anticipated release.
Which is to say that Fall 2013 may be a heated season for the Wii U! We did get to see a bit of footage from the upcoming Pikmin game in the broadcast, which revealed a winged Pikmin that follows players around and carries items for them.
Undoubtedly, more details on the game will be revealed in the months ahead as we move toward the official release date!
