This past week or so in Cologne, Germany, gaming fans and professionals have swarmed the streets as they attend this highlight event for the industry. And this year, Gamescom’s attendance hit a record high, which has led to an announcement for Gamecom 2014 to return to Cologne instead of moving elsewhere.
Nintendo showcased a large booth at Gamescom, fighting for attention alongside major press announcements from Sony and Microsoft. Attendance at the Nintendo booth was fantastic, as there were plenty of Wii U and 3DS games to play, allowing foot traffic through the booth to hit a record high.
Over the five days of Gamescom, 340,000 attendees experienced the show—up from last year’s attendance of 275,000. If you thought PAX Prime in Seattle, Washington (USA) was a huge event, that’s nothing compared to Gamescom!
Naturally, the increase in attendance means a return to Cologne as the host city, alongside the Game Developer’s Conference as it did this year. GDC will be held between August 11-13, 2014, with Gamescom returning for August 13-17, 2014.
