Since the days of its Kickstarter launch, Keiji Inafune’s Mighty No. 9 campaign has been causing quite a stir among fans of the original Blue Bomber. This action-platformer from Inafune’s Comcept studio originally sat its goal at $900,000… which it reached in less than a week.
Three days ago, with four days remaining in the campaign, a new stretch goal was added for the PS Vita and 3DS, with a target of $3.5 millon. If the goal is met, the studio will team with Abstraction Games to create portable versions of Mighty No. 9… which undoubtedly is something Inafune’s fans are eager for.
As of writing, with 35 hours to go, the campaign is sitting at just over $3 million from backers, so there’s a real possibility that this could actually happen!
“We spent the last few weeks running the numbers and talking with various companies to make certain we could not only deliver great handheld versions of Mighty No. 9, but do it for a price that we could set with confidence. Luckily, we found a great potential partner in Abstraction Games — the team that recently brought Hotline Miami to PS platforms. If we can hit our stretch goal, they are all set to dive in and handle porting Mighty No. 9 to these handhelds!”
If you want a handheld version of the game, now’s the time to recruit friends and family into handing over some hard-earned cash to get this stretch goal funded!
