The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for Wii U / 3DS

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is on the docket as a new film release, which naturally means that there will be tie-in games heading down the line. Activision and Marvel Entertainment have announced that they’ll be responsible for the game version of the feature film, and we’ll see it on the Wii U and 3DS in the spring.

The game will be developed by Beenox, the same company who put together The Amazing Spider-Man last year for the Wii / Wii U. This new game will give players an improved open-world experience in New York, Spider-Man’s home, sweet home.

And to keep things interesting, the game won’t only focus on the events of the film, but will expand and offer alternate perspectives—perhaps even be set later in the timeline of events from the film.

Thomas Wilson, Beenox’s Co-Studio head, gave a statement about the game in a press release over the weekend:

“The first The Amazing Spider-Man game gave players their own beautifully animated, free-roaming city of Manhattan to traverse and explore – a playground of majestic scale in which to live out our common hero fantasies…and the overwhelming message from fans was: ‘MORE!’ That’s what our team is working toward with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – we’re giving gamers more abilities, more upgrades, more challenges, and more freedom to progress. And with the game launching alongside the new movie, offering an expanded interactive experience beyond the film, fans of the franchise won’t want to miss playing it.”

While we don’t have a release date confirmed for this title as of yet, we’ll let you know when we do… and hopefully Australia actually gets to play the game this time around. Cross your finger, Aussies!

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
