It wasn’t too long ago that a Kickstarter appeared for the potential reboot of Capcom game Ghosts ‘N Goblins… and despite the sideways glances and head-scratching from fans who weren’t sure how this would all go down, the team behind the project claimed that they were going to produce the game with or without Capcom’s blessing. They did admit, however, that if Capcom refused to involve themselves, the game’s title would be changed so that they could continue to develop the game.
Well, this is a classic case of too much confidence too soon. Development is appearing like less and less of a possibility, because the campaign has been cancelled and the project page says this:
“Ghosts ‘N Goblins – Demon World (Canceled) is the subject of an intellectual property dispute and is currently unavailable.”
Well, now. This isn’t much of a surprise, because the development team was using a trademarked name to try and raise funds for something they had no legal claim to.
If you backed the game and are disappointed, we’re sorry—but we’re not surprised about this move in the least.
