Although it seems as though retailers in North America are sticking with the recommended retail price of $299 (32GB version) for a Wii U, there are a few ways for you to obtain a cheaper system—especially if it’s price that’s been holding you back.
Along with the usual suspects, like GameStop/EB Games, Microplay, etc., Nintendo of America has gone ahead and begun offering systems below the recommended retail price… at $250, you can purchase a refurbished Wii U directly from Nintendo.
There may be “minor cosmetic blemishes” on these systems, but that’s what you’d expect buying used anyway, right?
A Deluxe Refurbished System includes these items:
- Wii U console (32GB; black)
- Wii U GamePad (black)
- Wii U AC adapter
- Wii U GamePad AC adapter
- High Speed HDMI Cable
- Sensor Bar
- Nintendo Land game disc
While these systems can’t be registered on Club Nintendo, they are presently eligible for the Deluxe Digital Promotion that offers points / discount funds for Wii U eShop purchases.
