Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition… on the Wii U?

In 2013, Batman fans had a couple of game titles to enjoy, both within the Arkham Origins series. On the 3DS, players had Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate to play through, a 2.5D action game developed by Armature.

And now, in a strange move, Warner Bros. has announced that the 3DS (and Vita, if we’re going for full disclosure) game will make the leap to consoles and PC as a downloadable title, with the extra phrase Deluxe Edition tacked on. Say what?

Here’s the full details in the press release:

Previously available only for PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system and Nintendo 3DS™ handheld system, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate – Deluxe Edition brings the content of Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate to console and PC with enhanced high-definition 2.5-D graphics, a new map & hint system for improved navigation and objective tracking, 5.1 surround sound, a fully voiced narrative and a captivating storyline. In addition to all previous released suits, players will be able to unlock the exclusive Zero Year Batsuit skin by registering for or signing into a Warner Bros. ID (WBID) account.

Strange, but all right. Minor enhancements should make this playable on a larger screen, and negate any of the 3D (or, ahem, 2.5D) aspects, and maybe it’ll just make for a better experience all around?

It’ll show up on April 1st for $19.99, and no, we’re pretty sure it’s not a April Fool’s Joke.
