1001 Spikes Releasing on June 3rd

It’s been quite the wait for 1001 Spikes, and earlier this week, Nintendo gamers were given a bit of a let-down when it was announced the game would hit Sony consoles in North America on June 3rd, with no mention of Nintendo systems. Well, Nicalis has eased your pain, Nintendo fans, because the title is now confirmed for both the Wii U and 3DS eShops on the same date.

But there’s a catch. And a bonus. So, let’s start with the bonus. 3DS owners who have another Nicalis game on their system (Cave Story, Ikachan, Grinsia, VVVVVV, Night Sky) will receive a $5 discount on the purchase of 1001 Spikes, bringing the total down to $9.99 on the 3DS.

The catch? Well, Nicalis has found what they’re terming “a few issues” at this last moment, which means the initial releases of the game will have the issues in it. They’ve states that “Nintendo has assured us that an update could be issued within a couple of days of release to knock out those bugs,” so that’s good… you might just need a little patience in those initial hours of play.

If you enjoy platformer titles (difficult ones, to be specific), this might be right up your alley. The difficulty factor is a selling point for the game, giving players 1001 lives to make it through the whole game. There will also be competitive and cooperative player modes, so if you have friends who like to play platformers, you can scream at the game (or at each other) together!

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
