Code Name S.T.E.A.M. Demo Available on 3DS eShop

In about a month and a half, North American 3Ds owners will get a chance to play Code Name S.T.E.A.M., a game we watched a demo for at PAX South this past weekend. While the game wasn’t playable at PAX South, here we are only a week later and Nintendo has tossed up the demo in the 3DS eShop.

The delay on not having it ready for PAX South may have something to do with the size—which is fairly large, considering it’s a demo! It’ll use up 1871 blocks of space on your SD card, but if this is one on your watch list, it may be worth it.

This upcoming title is one of the 3DS’s major releases in the first half of 2015, being billed as a strategy title that takes a turn-based approach from a close-up perspective. Players navigate through their 3D environment, and if you saw the Nintendo Direct presentation a few weeks ago, you’ll recall the announcement that Fire Emblem amiibo figures will be supported on the New Nintendo 3DS version of the game.

Intelligent Systems has also given us local and multiplayer for the full game, while the demo doesn’t allow exploration of this yet. The demo has a 30 use limit and will send you into the early stages of the single-player campaign.

If you’re waiting on this one or curious about the steampunk aesthetic, the demo may be the right choice to help you make up your mind.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
