Yooka-Laylee Surpasses All Funding Expectations in 24 Hours

When we last left you on Friday, we announced that fledgling studio Playtonic Games had announced they were making a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, and that it would be crowdfunded through Kickstarter. Well, the initial funding goal was broken in less than an hour after the Kickstarter page went live.

And then less than 24 hours later, Yooka-Laylee smashed through the final stretch goal of one million British pounds. Let that sink in a little bit.

Here we are on the fourth of May, and it’s guaranteed that we’ll get a Wii U launch for Day One, alongside other platform releases, and new stretch goals have been announced for things like an N64 “shader mode” and a developer walkthrough / commentary video.

It certainly seems like these stretch goals will be no problem—and if one thing is clear, it’s that this is a game folks have been waiting to see for a long time.
