Mega Man Legacy Collection in Early 2016

Although the Mega Man Legacy Collection will be arriving on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC very soon, we’ve been waiting to hear more on what “Winter” means as a release window for the 3DS version. It’s now been announced that this means early 2016, coming to us as a physical retail release as well as a download title.

There are very few details beyond that coming from Capcom, though. We have our fingers crossed that it’ll contain the same basic core of the HD versions, which include the six NES games (you know which ones we’re talking about), with extras like a Challenge Remix mode and a “Museum of the Era.”

The challenge mode is a way for veterans of Mega Man games to really test their skill, while newcomers may enjoy it as a way to get more familiar with the mechanics of Mega Man titles. With the “Museum”, there will be “hundreds of high resolution scans of vintage concept sketches, production art, unused Robot Master designs, a database of enemy information” and a music player with all the game soundtracks.

The HD version will also include online leaderboards and the ability to watch others’ runs through the games… which would transfer over very well to the 3DS, so here’s hoping everything listed above ends up on the handheld. We’re assuming more info will come down the line later this year.
