What’s that you hear? Oh, that’s just the sound of Nintendo slashing a whopping $30 off the recommended retail price for their Nintendo 2DS handheld console.
Say what? Yes indeed, the price will drop to $99.99 as of August 30th, and you still get all the bells & whistles—er, namely, Mario Kart 7 which will still be included when you buy the system.
According to Scott Moffitt, the Executive VP of Sales & Marketing for Nintendo of America, the price drop is designed to boost the sales of Little Battlers eXperience:
“At a suggested retail price of $99.99, Nintendo 2DS is an even more attractive introductory option for first-time gamers. The new lower-priced hardware combined with the strong lineup of new games launching this year and arguably the best library of games in this generation makes it a great time to be a Nintendo fan.”
While the 2DS lacks the auto-stereoscopic functionality of the 3DS, the 2DS is now the lowest-cost way for players and consumers to dip their toes in the water of Nintendo’s handheld console games.
