Tetris Movie Will Be…a Trilogy?!

Back in 2014, it was announced that one of the most famous video games of all time—Tetris—would be made into a full-length movie. There was a collective moment of head-scratching as gamers tried to figure out how one would take a game about falling tetrominoes into a full-length feature film, but we’ve learned today that not only is this still happening—but that it’s going to be made into three films.

Producer Larry Kasanoff had this to say about the reasoning behind turning the film into a trilogy: “The story we conceived is so big; this isn’t us splitting the last one of our eight movies in two to wring blood out of the stone. It’s just a big story.”

According to Kasanoff, all the online speculation about the GameBoy favorite title has been way off base so far—especially the guesses about anthropomorphic tetrominoes fighting against each other.

“We’re not going to have blocks with feet running around the movie,” he said in reference to the speculation. “But it’s great that people think so. It sets the bar rather low!”

It does, Kasanoff. Indeed, it does.
