FIFA 18 and the Switch

When EA showed up during the Nintendo Switch presentation in Tokyo to announce FIFA, they were rather vague in the pitch of the upcoming release. Due to this, it didn’t take long for rumors to start circulating that the Switch FIFA game would be based on the last-gen iterations that are still produced.

Peter Moore has answered a few questions about the game at a recent EA event in Paris, and while speaking to Game Reactor. He kept things fairly secretive, but he did give a couple of small tidbits.

It is going to be FIFA 18, not a spin off and the Vancouver team is producing the Switch version. He repeated the previous statement to dismiss any attempts to pin the Switch version to last-gen standards:

Well, as we have said, we are custom-building a FIFA version for the Nintendo Switch. It will be FIFA 18, and it will obviously be later this year when FIFA 18 comes out.

What you have will be a custom built version for the Nintendo Switch from the FIFA development team in Vancouver

It will be interesting to see how this develops and if the Switch version hits stores at the same time in Autumn / Fall
