The Q1 financial results for Nintendo have been released! And while a larger breakdown is forthcoming—certainly the internet and gaming community will be rife with analyses very soon—there are a few notable numbers worth mentioning right away.
First off, as the title of this article states, is that the Switch has sold 4.7 million consoles across the world since its launch. From April to June 2017, 1.97 million Switch units and 8.14 million Switch games were sold. From launch, however, 13.6 million Switch games have been sold, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe taking 3.54 million sales, Zelda: Breath of the Wild taking 3.92 and ARMS contributing 1.18 million.
This seems to put Nintendo on track to sell their goal of 10 million Switch consoles by the end of the year, but they’ll only reach it if they’re able to quickly reverse their stock shortages. If so, we could see Nintendo surging ahead to become a leader at retail this holiday season.
