Happy 6th Birthday, Nintendo Fire! Plus Announcement

Next Friday on October 6th will be the 6th anniversary of Nintendo Fire’s inception. We’ve been providing you with news and reviews—and PAX coverage twice a year, occasionally three times—on the daily since team member Micah started us off in 2011.

We’ve watched as Nintendo hit its highs (the Wii!), made mistakes and sunk to lows (the Wii U…), and then reinvented itself to reach where it is today with the Switch.

Our goal moving forward is to continue providing you with news highlights, the occasional review, and press coverage of local events and PAX weekends where possible. We’re a very small team here and Nintendo Fire is a passion project for us—we just really love Nintendo games. Nintendo has been a part of each of our lives from childhood through to today and has had a strong influence on who we are as gamers.

However, due to circumstances beyond our control, we regret to announce that Nintendo Fire will be taking a brief hiatus for the next few months. You may have already suspected something was up, as our coverage has diminished somewhat over the past month or so, for which we apologize. We’re not going anywhere, we haven’t fallen out of love with Nintendo, but the reality is that occasionally the outside world interferes, and tough decisions have to be made. We hope that you who’ve stuck with us for the past six years will understand that this isn’t an easy decision, and we thank you for understanding.

That said, we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year.

Nintendo Fire will return in early 2018 to continue providing you with great content and Nintendo-themed news and commentary.

In the meantime, happy gaming—we’ll meet again soon!

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
