No, no, of course they wouldn’t do that. That would be insane.
They might, on the other hand, relentlessly bother Switch owners until each and every one of us has a pair, because let’s face it… Nintendo has big plans to “push on” with NES content on the Switch next year, with many titles in the NES library still to come.
As if we don’t know what these controllers are, or why they’re cool, Nintendo has released a short video featuring Nintendo Treehouse staffer JC Rodrigo, who unboxes the controllers and then proceeds to let us know what NES games were (obviously) designed to be played with NES controllers, so like… you should really get some. He also lets you know how to buy them online. And oh yeah, in order to get them, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
They’re cool, yes. But how do players feel about a members-only exclusive product, where you have to pay for a membership to get the privilege of buying something else? Hmm.
