Bayonetta 2 Director Leaves Company

During this week’s Nintendo Direct, the statement was made that PlatinumGames is “hard at work” on the anticipated upcoming Switch release of Bayonetta 3. However, an announcement on Twitter from Bayonetta & Bayonetta 2 producer and director Yusuke Hashimoto (also Star Fox Zero) has now left the company:

“Yesterday, January 31st, was my last day at PlatinumGames. The memories I made during my 13 years at Platinum, working with dozens of talented individuals on Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2, and Star Fox Zero, are priceless to me. Let me take this opportunity to share my thanks with anyone who has worked with me, supported me, or played my games. I hope to take the experiences I gained at Platinum and use them on whatever I work on in the future. Thank you again – Yusuke.”

Whether this departure will have any effect on the game’s development remains to be seen, but considering his significant role in the first two games of the series, we’re fairly confident in thinking that there will be at least some level of impact, noticeable by fans or not.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
