Astral Chain the First of a Planned Trilogy

The upcoming Switch exclusive Astral Chain from PlatinumGames has been the recipient of both hype and curious inquiry, as details have been slow to emerge—at least they were until E3, where we all got a good look at the gameplay. With the release coming very soon on August 30th, it’s a good thing, too—and reports from early previews at E3 have been very positive.

What’s more is the new information from director Takahisa Taura, who recently sat for an interview with IGN Benelux where he mentioned that this particular title is hopefully the first in a trilogy—but the future of any additional instalments depends directly on the sales of the first release.

Taura also stated that there are no plans for DLC content, since the intention is to continue the storyline across two additional games.

Knowing this, if Astral Chain is on your radar, we suggest checking it out earlier rather than later when it comes to release time.  Of course, whether the game is good enough to be supported across three titles remains to be seen, but we won’t have to wait long now to find out if that’s a possibility.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
