Paper Mario: The Origami King Enjoys Best US Launch for Series (So Far)

Turns out comedy is exactly what folks need right now—NPD Group released its chart of the USA’s highest selling video games for July 2020, and Paper Mario: The Origami King debuted at third on the all-formats chart.

This position puts it ahead of all previous Paper Mario titles for the same period of time, according to Mat Piscatella of NPD, who stated the game “set a new launch month sales record for a Paper Mario title, with physical launch month dollar sales more than doubling those of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.”

Overall, the PS4’s Ghost of Tsushima took top spot while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare took second. Animal Crossing: New Horizons was fifth on the list.

In fact, five of the top ten spaces were taken by Nintendo’s first-party titles, though it’s worth noting that eShop digital titles aren’t considered for this list.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
