…because from the looks of things? Smash Bros. fans are going to have to wait a good, long time before seeing a new game on the Wii U or 3DS. Like, possibly 2015 long time, though don’t quote us on that.
While the project had an announcement at 2011’s E3, Masahiro Sakurai really only finished Kid Icarus: Uprising earlier this year. That means the next project hasn’t necessarily been on the radar as of yet, and it’s going to take some time to get going.
In an interview with Nintendo Power, Sakurai said that “we’ve just taken what you could call the first step of the process. This is the first time I’ve ever had my next project announced before it’s even entered development, and because of that, I fear that players will be forced to wait even longer than they expect to. Please be patient.”
There you have it. When will we see a new Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS? At this point it’s anyone’s guess, but at least we know it’s happening sometime in the future.
