This is… strange.
Really strange.
So strange we couldn’t NOT tell you about it.
Two of geekdom’s most recognizable creatures – a cat and a hedgehog – have been fused, ahem, “crossed over” if you will, to create… well, we don’t even know what to call it.
This Sonic the Hedgehog / Hello Kitty plush is officially called the (deep breath here) “Sonic x Hello Kitty Super Jumbo Plushy”. And it’s taking over Japan this weekend in commemoration of SEGA’s Joypolis arcade, the flagship location, being reopened.
Sit tight though, you don’t need to crawl into that bunker for another year yet. The collaboration between Sanrio and SEGA won’t spread worldwide until Summer 2013.
So… this means we’re playing Hello Kitty as a sidekick in the next Sonic game, right? Hrmmm…
