Hiccups for First Full Retail Digital Downloads on 3DS

Full retail game digital downloads for the 3DS began in Japan over the weekend, but the service got off to a bit of a rocky start. Not too long after launch, Nintendo reported that they were having service issues with the eShop – not that anyone should be surprised, considering the first two games offered through the new service are the highly anticipated New Super Mario Bros. 2 and the new Brain Age style game from Dr. Kawashima, Five-Minute Demon Training.

The issues have since been resolved, but fans of both games in North America and Europe are likely holding their breath at this point, in hopes that the same problems won’t arise when the games are released for them next month.

That said, if we do see any issues, they’ll likely get resolved quickly. The problems in Japan came around 9am and 11:30am, and were fixed shortly after… so if you’re antsy, either pick up a boxed copy at the store, or expect to potentially wait a little while on launch day before you’re able to play.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
