Hip-Hop State of Mind for NBA2K13

What’s the best way to build hype for your new sports game? Better graphics? Improved gameplay? Additional features & game modes? No? Well, how about hiring an award-winning, 14-time Grammy winning hip-hop artist slash producer?

Ah, that’s the winning ticket… according to 2KSports, who’ve announced Jay-Z as the executive producer on their upcoming basketball title. Coming to the Wii and Wii U this fall, Jay-Z will play a role in music selection for the soundtrack, as well as artistic selection and style in-game.

While it may seem like an odd choice, Jay-Z has plenty of business experience to go alongside his musical achievements, and is part-owner of the NBA team Brooklyn Nets, whose logo he helped craft.

If you’re still scratching your head over this one, check out this quick little trailer-style announcement:

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
