Happy Birthday to You, Mr. Miyamoto!

Fire up the NES, blow on a cartridge, and mash some buttons in celebration—it’s Shigeru Miyamoto’s 60th birthday!

Born in the Japanese town of Sonobe, Mr. Miyamoto is known around the world as one of the greatest gaming visionaries of our time… and since joining Nintendo in the late 1970s, he’s done more to revolutionize interactive gaming than arguably any other person in history, and has continued to do so over the course of the past four decades.

And even better? The man has kept a bright spirit and a great sense of humor through the whole thing, never straying far from the company’s early roots! His visit to Spain last month  demonstrated some of this playfulness (and some great dance moves!). Here’s to many more years of it to come!

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
