Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct presentation had a large announcement to make, a big surprise that most of us weren’t expecting: the Wii game Donkey Kong Country Returns is coming to the 3DS, naturally with the extended title Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. Don’t get too excited, though, as it’s a remake of the Wii game without much chance for a lot of new content.
That said, Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata said the 3D for the game “needs to be seen to be believed”, so it may be worth checking out for the visuals alone. Nintendo will soon release a video on the 3DS eShop so that we can see the 3D effect on the game for ourselves.
DK Country Returns was very well received when it was released, so this is good news for fans of the game. Considering how much layered platforming there is in a game with swinging apes, a 3D version with real perspective sounds like the perfect fit.
